Who we are

The PHG Foundation is a non-profit think tank and a linked exempt charity of the University of Cambridge. We were originally founded as the Public Health Genomics Unit in 1997, and became the charitable PHG Foundation ten years later.

Our mission has always been making science work for health, with a focus on policy to support the application of advances in genomics and related fields for individual and population health. Our talented multi-disciplinary team is governed by our Board of Trustees and supported by our expert Associates, Fellows and distinguished Senior Fellows.

Our core funding comes from a charitable endowment, and we also receive income from commissioned, collaborative and consultancy work with public and private sector partners. We work with an incredible range of talented people from the healthcare, research and policy sectors; see our annual reports for details of our activities and finances.
