Dr Hayley Wilson

Policy Analyst (Biomedical Science)

Hayley is a policy analyst in biomedical science with a background in bacterial genomics. Hayley completed her PhD in medical microbiology at the University of Cambridge where she developed skills in whole genome sequencing and pathogen genomics, particularly looking at multi-drug resistant bacteria and their impact upon asymptomatic patient populations.

Hayley has since been working as a post-doctoral research associate, firstly coordinating combined genomic and epidemiological studies based in intensive care, involving multidisciplinary collaboration within the healthcare sector and more recently as a computational biologist examining the causative agent of respiratory diseases in equines. She has also spent time as a visiting worker at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.

Hayley recently joined PHG to expand her horizon in genetics and build on her enthusiasm for writing and collating research from the broader scientific world. She also holds a BSc in Forensic Biology (Molecular Bioscience) from Nottingham Trent University.
